Vegetables, Yarn, and Brown Eggs from Our Farm

While the focus of our farm is raising quality lamb, we strive to maximize production from our land by developing other products for our customers. From our pasture to your table, choose to buy local, seasonal produce!

Wool from Our Sheep

At Silver Valley Farm, we enjoy caring for our sheep and in turn they provide us with a wool fleece each year. Some fleeces are better than others, we keep only the best and deliver them to a woolen mill to be cleaned, carded and spun into roving or yarn. For hand spinners we offer raw wool fleeces as well as roving that is the ready to spin into yarn. For knitters, our yarn may be purchased in natural white, brown or beautifully hand dyed colors. It comes in 4 oz. skeins, worsted and sport weight. If you’re interested in purchasing quality yarn that was grown from our sheep and raised in Indiana, please visit us at the farmers market or at Four Seasons Local Market!

Fresh Vegetables from Our Sustainable Garden

Every fall, we cover our garden with a year’s worth of composted sheep manure providing an excellent source of fertility to our large garden. We plant a variety of vegetables: salad greens, sorrel, spinach, Swiss chard, asparagus, kale, arugula, carrots, beets, spring peas, summer squash, zucchini, beans, tomatoes, eggplant, peppers, cucumbers, herbs and edible flowers. We are increasing our fruit production to include blackberries, strawberries and raspberries as well as apples and peaches.

Pasture Raised Brown Eggs

Our chickens produce nutrient rich brown eggs year round.  The chickens spend most of the year on pasture where their hen wagon is moved weekly to fresh grass. This method provides them with plenty of insects and vegetation to forage as they follow our sheep around. Our pasture raised brown eggs are extremely popular with our customers and are available at Four Seasons Local Market and at our farmers market booth.
